Abstract

345,109. Typewriters. WILKINSON, G. E., 50, Rue Carnot, Cormeilles-en-Parisis, France. March 29, 1930, No. 10096. Convention date, April 4, 1929. [Class 100 (iv).] Machines for coding ; keys.-Detachable key-caps for use in coding are made of rubber or the like and contain a detachable character-disc. The cap 19 shown in Fig. 1 is formed with ribs 21, 22 for engaging the key 20, and a rib 23 for holding a character-disc 24a, a transparent disc 24, and a washer 25 of rubber or the like which rests on the key. To complicate the code by causing a space to represent a letter and vice versa, one of the keycaps represents a space, and a key-cap representing the letter is mounted on the space-bar, the rib 21 being applied to a necked washer resting on and connected to the space-bar. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the following subject-matter which does not appear in the Specification as accepted:-Two or more transparent character-discs may be arranged above the disc 24a, and the disc 24 may be coloured. A key-cap may be connected to the space-bar by means of a rubber band passing through the abovementioned necked washer. Types.-The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a type-shuttle provided with a detachable block in which types are composed in any desired order for coding. The shuttle A shown in Fig. 1 (Cancelled) is provided with a detachable block B having slots 11, 12 in which types 16 are composed. Each type has a collar 15 resting on the block, and collar 18 engaging a recess in the bottom of the block. The block fits within ears 6, 7, 8 on the shuttle, and has apertures engaging projections 5b on the shuttle, a pin 10 being passed through the projections and the ears 6, 7 to secure the block. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
