Type-bar machines for embossing paper; machines for braille type; stenographic machines.- In machines having six sliding embossing-styles operated by keys, and ratchet-mechanism for feeding a paper web, the styles p pass through a top guide c<8> and a bottom guide q, and the bottom ends are arranged in the same horizontal plane and have ball-and-socket engagement with substantially straight key-levers m<1>, returning- springs p<2> being arranged between the guide q and the bottom ends of the styles. The keylevers converge, and the four outer key-levers are formed with short cranked parts m<3>. The keylevers may be pivoted on detachable pillars r and be formed with rounded ends m<2> entering sockets p<1> in the styles. The styles are housed in a recess a<5> in the casing a. The top guide c<8> may be integral with a channelled guide c for the paper web, the die-plate o being secured to the channelled guide. Letter-spacing mechanism.-The key-levers m<1> and a spacing-key lever n<1> operate a universal bar t connected by a link t<2> to a lever l operating ratchet-mechanism for feeding the web. The movement of the universal bar is limited by a pin t<3> on the link t<2> engaging a stop-bar u. Specification 169,614 is referred to.
