345,066. Index tabs ; labels. MORLAND & IMPEY, Ltd. and RENDALL, A. G., Kalamazoo Works, Northfield, Birming- ham. Feb. 27, 1930, No. 6501. Drawings to Specification. [Classes 16 and 73.] An index tab, label, or the like provided with a coating of non-drying adhesive so that it may be readily detached from a paper or other sheet to which it has been attached, and used again, has the adhesive applied over a part only of its surface, or the adhesive is partially covered in order to facilitate detachment. The adhesive, which preferably consists of unvulcanized indiarubber with or without added materials such as oil and zinc white, may be applied to the tab itself or to a separate piece of paper or fabric secured to the tab. The tab may be completely covered with the adhesive, and the part to be non-adhesive coated with powder, paper, or the like. The tabs may be cut from a strip of paper, metal foil, or other material coated with the adhesive, the coated side being preferably covered with a perforated strip of paper or the like or with a pair of narrow strips applied to the edges of the coated strip so as to leave parts of the adhesive portion exposed. In order to prevent adhesion of the tabs when packed together, the adhesive may be protected by a covering of gauze or other material. The side of the paper or the like to which the adhesive is applied may be previously coated with a water emulsion of rubber latex to prevent the detachment of the adhesive from the paper &c.
