401,418. Guards for preventing the access of insects &c. DIXON, D. L., 8, Howard Avenue, Cheadle Hulme, KAY BROS., Ltd. and WILSON, G. T., St. Petersgate, Stockport, both in Cheshire. June 30, 1932, No. 18526. [Class 5 (i).] A band for preventing the access of insects to trees or plants on the ground comprises a strip of flexible material, such as paper, folded along its median axis A, B, and provided with a layer 1 of non-drying adhesive or permanently tacky substance of a width narrower than the strip so as to leave selvedges 3, 4, on two edges of the band. Perforations 5 may be made along the line A, B, so that after the band-in the folded condition-has been applied to the trunk of a tree, the lower part 2 may be ripped off and, as part of the layer 1 will have adhered to it, may be used separately. In a modification the part 2 may carry a layer of adhesive similar to that applied to the other part. In a further modification a band, similar to the upper part shown in Fig. 1, is folded along its median line down the middle of the layer 1.
