345,048. Soldering-irons. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and IDE, G. H., of General Electric Co., Landor Street, Birmingham. Feb. 14, 1930, No. 5059. [Class 83 (iv).] An electric soldering-iron comprises a copper bit 10 into which is screwed a cast iron former 11 with grooves 12 on two sides to receive the heating-elements 13 embedded in refractory insulating material. A tube 14 on which is mounted a wooden hand grip 15 is screwed into the other end of the former 11. The heating- elements are surrounded by a tube 16 one end of which is brazed &c. to the bit, the other end being fastened by screws. The heating - elements and handle can therefore be removed by unscrewing the handle from the bit 10 and tube 16.
