Soldering-irons.-To prevent the interchangeable bits of electric soldering irons from binding in their heating sleeves due to oxidation, the sleeve or the bit is provided with sharp grooves or recesses so as to receive the oxide when relative movement between the parts is effected and so avoid frequent clearing of the bit. Fig. 1 shows a bit 4 and a heating sleeve 1 grooved at 3, and Fig. 4 shows a grooved bit enclosed in a sleeve.
