[Class 7 (ii).] In a two-stroke-cycle engine employing as the motive fluid a detonating mixture of oxygen and hydrogen, a partial vacuum is produced during the first 10 per cent of the admission stroke ; admission then takes place during about 20 per cent of the stroke and is followed by a lowering of the pressure in the cylinder on the closure of the admission valve, ignition occurring at about 40 per cent of the stroke ; the exhaust valve is opened towards the end of the expansion stroke.
