Abstract
343,983. Automatic exchange switches. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., Columbia House, Aldwych, London.-(Schreiber, L. J. J. and Sano, K. M.; 18, Rue Boudewyns, Antwerp, Belgium.) Nov. 27, 1929, No. 36397. [Class 40 (iv).] The movement of a pivoted armature 9 is communicated to the wipers through a one-way coupling comprising a helical spring 18 tightly wound around members 10, 30 rotatable on a common shaft 16 and secured respectively to the armature and to the wiper carrier. The armature 9 carries a polepiece 3 passing through an aperture in one arm of the magnet yoke 22 and fitting into a recess in the magnet core 2, the polepiece 3 thus serving in the energized condition of the magnet to form a magnetic bridge between the yoke and the core. Screws 11, 8 permit adjustment of the stroke of the armature and the width of the air-gap between polepiece and core. A ball 13 carried by a spring 4 and engaging a toothed wheel 15 ensures centring of the wipers. The shaft 16 is held at one end in a slot in the frame 6 to which are also secured the terminal bank 5 and the magnet yoke 22, the latter adjustably. A pointer 27 on the shaft 16 indicates on a disc 26 carried by the wiper carrier the position of the wipers.
