Abstract
343,715. Fluid - pressure brakes. KNORR-BREMSE AKT.-GES., 9, Neue Bahnhofstrasse, Lichtenberg, and MÍLLER, E., 1, Loreleystrasse, Karlshorst, both in Berlin. Feb. 1, 1930, No. 3511. [Class 103 (i).] A control valve for a compressed air brake is provided with a diaphragm d which is reverted in the normal position and assumes a straight or curved conical shape in the extended position, the diaphragm unrolling in its outward stroke with its free surface in contact with the inner surface of the piston chamber. The ring f lining the control chamber decreases in size towards the side on which train pipe air enters the chamber so that the elasticity in the diaphragm cannot produce undesired movement. A flange k of elliptical cross section is clamped between rings e, f in the control chamber and the middle part of the diaphragm is clamped between the valve piston head and a plate i. The ring f may be made of an artificial resin such as that known under the Trade Mark " Bakelite " and may be provided with a drain bore g. A projection h on the diaphragm enters an aperture in the plate i to ensure correct assembly.
