Abstract
492,415. Fluid - pressure brakes. HARDY MASCHINENFABRIK UND GIESSEREI AKT.-GES., GEB. Aug. 19, 1937, No. 22766. Convention date, Aug. 29, 1936. [Class 103 (i)] in a triple valve the ratio of the areas of the pistons on which the train pipe and brake cylinder pressure act is variable during braking. The piston on which brake cylinder pressure acts to return the valve to lap position is in two relatively movable parts 2, 2a. The larger part 2a is only active to control the valve by engaging flange 6 when a spring 8 yields. Thus the preliminary movements of the valve are readily susceptible to the changes of train pipe pressure above the piston 1, being unopposed except for the brake cylinder pressure acting on the small area of the piston 2. There is a constant pressure in the chamber K. In a modification the piston 1 is in two parts which move together until the spring between them yields and thereafter the smaller part only is active.
