Abstract

343,092. Hair-cutters. JONES, J. F., Adyar Lodge, Onslow Crescent, Woking, Surrey. Nov. 13, 1929, No. 34719. [Class 30.] A hair-cutter comprises an ordinary comb 5 to which is attached one or a pair of safety razor blades of ordinary type. The frame part 9 is clipped to the comb, which is preferably of the thickened back type, at its ends 6 which are inwardly pressed as at 7 to engage the comb beneath the thick back. Each blade is directly mounted in a detachable holder, Fig. 5, comprising a support plate 1 having pins 4, engaging blade apertures, and a clamping flap 2 pressed downwards by a torsion spring 3. The blade and holder pass through a slot 10 in the frame 9 which is also slotted as at 11 to receive the pins 4. A tongue 12 on the frame 9 prevents re-opening of the flap 2. The blade holders are clamped in position by a locking-plate 15 passed over a shouldered stud 13 on the frame 9, and pressed on to the tops of the holders and the shoulder of the stud by a nut 16. The central parts of the frame 9 urge the blade edges into contact with the comb teeth. Interlocking tongues on the holders and frame may replace the screw-and-nut clamping. The locking- plate 15 may be bevelled on its lower side, and a single blade may replace the two-blade arrangement shown. Blades other than the three-hole type shown may be used.
