Hair-cutting appliances of safety-razor type.-The guard or comb 1 of a hair-cutting appliance comprises two halves connected together by the outer ends of the teeth 3 and is formed from a single metal blank bent into V-form. ation, a series of transverse separated bars in the blank constituting the teeth of the comb. The outer edges 4 of the blank are bent to form flanges serving as guides for a sliding-member 7 secured to the blade-holder 5, which holds the blade 6 centrally between the halves of the comb. The teeth of the comb are longer at one end than at the other so that by sliding the member 7 along the comb the cut is varied. The blade-holder is locked in its adjusted position by a spring tongue 8 secured to the member 7 and having a depending stud 9 which engages a hole in the slide and one. of a series of holes in a flange 4 or in a part carried thereby. In a modification, the teeth of the comb are of uniform length and the bladeholder carries studs sliding in inclined slots in the side of the comb. According to the Provisional Specification, the blade may be arranged between two combs or between the halves of a comb divided vertically by a narrow slot, and the slide may be provided with a back which slides in inclined slots or upon inclined shoulders or grooves in the halves of the comb, the back being preferably set at an angle to the cutting edge which is thus maintained parallel to the outer edges of the comb teeth. The blade may be clamped in its adjusted position between the halves of the comb by a clip embracing the latter.
