Abstract
343,065. Gas producers. CLIMIE, W., 38, Philip Street, Falkirk, Stirlingshire, and DUNLOP, J. E., 50, Wellington Street, Glasgow. Aug. 13, 1929, No. 24672. [Classes 51 (ii) and 55 (i).] The fuel bed of a gas producer is levelled by a rotary water cooled rake 37 provided with teeth 40, and mounted in a cover plate 32 supported by ball bearings 34 on an upper part of the producer, a worm wheel 33 causing the plate 32 to rotate. Pipes 38, 38<1>, which provide the water flow and return from the rake, slide in annular tubes 46, 46<1> and are attached to counterweights which support the rake structure. Water is supplied by a pipe 53 to an annular trough 48 from which it circulates through the one tube 38, the rake, the other tube 38<1>, overflow pipe 52, annular spaces 46, 461, water seal 36, and overflow pipe 55. The fuel bed is enclosed by vertical water tubes 6 connected to upper and lower headers 5, 4, the tubes being enclosed in brickwork 2 which lines a shell 1.
