Abstract

196,118. Silver, E. H. Jan. 27, 1922. Separating by gravity.-Apparatus for separating dirt, grit, &c. from liquids flowing through pipes comprises a chamber a, Fig. 1, into which the liquid is downwardly projected through a nozzle c<1> and from which it passes away through an outlet c, impurities falling through an inclined floor or nozzle e into a collecting compartment f having a valved outlet at the base. In the form shown in Fig. 7, the chamber a is cast in parts which are bolted together, the nozzle e is supported on an internal flange, a lower inclined floor n is provided, and also a bottom with a pocket m. A baffle c<2> causes the liquid to take a circuitous route to the outlet.
