Abstract
343,010. Kinematography. JOHN, W. E., National Bank Buildings, Simmonds Street, Johannesburg, South Africa. Nov. 7, 1929, No. 33876. [Class 97 (i).] Pictures taken and projected with a continuously moving band of lenses, such as described in Specification 290,372, [Class 97 (i), Optical systems &c.], the film also moving continuously, have their greatest dimension A, Fig. IV, lengthwise of the film. The pictures may not take up the whole width of the film, leaving a space for descriptive matter, or for a sound track in the case of talking films. Lenses with diameters approximating to this greatest dimension are used. The film is taken and projected with a horizontal movement. In the projection apparatus the spools 4, 5, Fig. II, are mounted on vertical spindles, the take-up spool 5 being driven by frictional contact with a rotated disc supporting it. More than one picture may be projected at the film gate 21 and composed by a lens 16a at a gate aperture 22 behind the projecting lens 23.
