[Class 146 (iii).] In a fountain pen of the type provided with means for cutting off the ink-supply when the pen is out of use, the feed-bar is adapted to be rotated without longitudinal movement relative to a fixed ink passage leading from the reservoir and located in the circular path of travel of the duct in the feed-bar. The nib 1 and feed-bar 3 are fixed in a member 5 secured to a sleeve 8 rotatable in a part 13b carried by the end of the barrel 2. The sleeve 8 is secured in position between packing-pieces 11, 14 by a plug 13 screwed into the part 13b. The duct 4 in the feed-bar is normally in alignment with a passage 4a in a member 3a secured in the plug 13, but rotation of the member 5 moves the duct and passage out of alignment to interrupt the flow of ink. The end of the feed-bar preferably extends into a recess in the plug 13. Indicating-marks may be provided on the parts 5, 13b. In a modification, the sleeve 8 is dispensed with, and an extension of the member 5 engages a recess in the plug 13, the two parts being held together by a ring screwing on to the plug 13 and having an inwardly-turned outer end to hold the member 5 in position. The device is applicable to ordinary or self-filling pens.
