Abstract
342,294. Pulverulent - fuel burners. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and HAGUE, H. G., 1, Inglewood Road, Crayford, Kent. Oct. 24, 1929, No. 32325. [Class 75 (i).] Pulverulent fuel in an air-free condition is introduced by a pipe 8 in to the throat of a burner tube 4 and sucked through the burner tube by an air blast from a central nozzle 7, the burner tube being surrounded by a casing 5 to which secondary air is supplied under pressure by a pipe 14 and issues from an annular outlet 6. The burner tube 4 is of converging-diverging section and the inlet pipe 8 for the pulverized fuel is connected to the throat of the burner tube 4 behind the air nozzle 7 through which the primary air is supplied from an inlet 13 drawing the pulverized fuel from the pipe 8 and projecting it into the combustion chamber. An adjustable conical baffle 9 arranged in front of the air nozzle promotes turbulence in the mixture and breaks up lumps formed by aggregation of the fuel. The baffle is mounted on a rod 10 screwed through a bush 11 in the burner casing and adjusted by a handle 12.
