Abstract

342,166. Loom shuttles. TRIGGS, W. W., 57, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.- (Crompton & Knowles Loom Works; Worcester, Massachusetts, U.S.A.) Feb. 19, 1930, No. 5526. [Class 142 (iii).] No holder or clip for the weft ends is used, but the ends from pairs of bobbins are tied together. The loom shown has two shuttle-boxes in vertical alignment and a magazine containing a stack of bobbins W, one of which may be pushed by a hammer 23 into one or each of the shuttles S, portions of the sides of the magazine 25, 30 being pivoted and spring held to permit the passage of the bobbins. A thread-guiding device 40 also hinged to the magazine. and held in normal position by a spring prevents the thread joining a bobbin in the shuttle and another in the magazine from entering the cracks between the main and hinged portions of the side of the magazine. Near the cloth is a spring or a weight 50 with a bevelled lower edge 51 to engage and hold the thread end, the thread being ultimately broken between the weight and the cloth selvage.
