Abstract
341,750. Transformers ; induction motors. POHL, T., 19, Max Lieber-strasse, Wriezen-on-Oder, Germany. Feb. 17, 1930, No. 5236. [Classes 35 and 38 (ii).] A polyphase transformer for supplying current to an induction motor or furnace comprises a primary winding 5 located in slots 4 in a cylindrical core member 2, and a secondary winding in the form of a " cage " comprising conducting bars 10 located in slots 9 in an annular core member 8 surrounding the member 2. The bars 10 are connected at their upper ends by a short-circuiting ring 11 and at their lower ends are brought out in a gas-tight manner through an insulating disc 15 sealing the end of a cylindrical casing 12 surrounding the transformer. The bars 10 may terminate in contact sockets adapted to receive conductors extending to the load circuit, or, as shown in Fig. 1, the bars may be extended into a slotted core 22 and connected together at their lower ends by a conducting ring 23 to form the stator winding of an induction motor. The latter comprises a short-circuited rotor winding 21 embedded in slots in a core 16 mounted on a shaft 18 which may carry at its lower end the rotor 13 of a submersible pump communicating through an annular space 24 with an outlet 26.
