Abstract
339,998. Holzwarth, H. June 13, 1929. Working-fluid supply.- A heat exchange apparatus 18, in which the two fluids do not mix, is used to cool the hot gases generated in the explosion chamber 10 before the gases pass to a turbine or other motor 21, a cooler gas (which may be steam) entering the apparatus at 19 being heated up before passing to a turbine or motor 23. The pressure of the second gas on entry is approximately the same as the pressure of the combustion gases when they enter the heat exchanger. -. The two gases may feed the same turbine. The heat exchange apparatus may replace a superheater for steam passing to a turbine.
