Casting processes; moulds.-In order to obtain a uniform crystalline structure in an ingot of aluminium or aluminium alloy, the mould is cooled only at the bottom, the top and sides being heated, or packed with non-conducting material. In order to cool the bottom of the mould, the mould is supported on a metal block, or on a water block. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 16280/90, 22004/02, 26335/10, 2324/12, 10821/13, 12047/15, 117,519, 133,117, 162,348, and 278,032.
