339,422. Bell, W. T., and Bretherton, F. J. Oct. 22, 1929. Addition to 311,438. Springs and wheels, arrangement of; equalizing load on wheels. - The semi-elliptic springs used in connection with the two associated axles of the parent Specification are replaced by two longitudinal quarter-elliptic springs and one semielliptic transverse spring. As in the parent Specification, two wheels I forming a narrow track are mounted on one axle and the other two wheels G forming a wide track are mounted on the other axle, the two axle casings being relatively movable about a longitudinal axis coincident with the axis of the longitudinal driving shaft. The frame V of the vehicle rests upon the two axles through the medium of two depending brackets 13 arranged midway between them. Two longitudinal quarter-elliptic springs 11 are connected by pivots 15 at their free ends to the brackets 13 and are clamped at their other ends on the underside of brackets 5 rigid with the axle structure of the two wide track wheels G. A transverse semi-elliptic spring 22 is connected at its outer ends by shackles 19 to the depending brackets 13 and is secured at its middle by bolts 24 to the underside of the tubular casing H forming a rigid extension from one of the axle structures.
