Cylinders, combustion chambers and passages of.-In an engine having a detachable head with valves arranged at one side and actuated from an elevated cam shaft, the inlet passage z and the exhaust passage (not shown) extend towards the opposite side of the head. The cylinder head is of triangular form, and is constructed with a combustion chamber with a plane surface to receive the valves g, and a spheroidal surface e. The combustion chamber is enlarged at j to form a ledge to prevent the valve from entering the cylinder in case of spring breakage.
