Abstract
336,825. Turner, I. Nov. 6, 1929. Combined solid-fuel and gas stoves; grates; lighting fires.-A firegrate bottom which may be. built up to suit fireplaces of different sizes and shapes comprises spaced transverse fire-bars a' - - a<5> connected by bolts d which extend through holes in the bars and in a front member. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the front member e has integral supporting legs e<2> and is formed with brackets to carry the ends of a gas burner g for igniting the fire. Rear supporting legs c<1> are provided, being either integral with one of the bars or, as shown, formed with spacing collars fitted between two of the bars. The bars are either selected from a number of standard lengths to suit the desired shape and size of grate, or bars of uniform length may be provided with notched ends or other means so that they may be readily shoxtened. Fig. 5 shows a similarlyconstructed grate bottom, the deep front f of ú which is provided with projections f<3> which hook upon the back of a gas fire as described in Specification 278,115. The igniting burner g is carried by the gas fire, the flames passing through apertures in the front f. Legs a<6> integral with the rear bar a<5> support the back of the grate.
