Abstract

336,322. Harris, A. W. July 23, 1929. Loud - speakers; magnetic instruments; diaphragms.- A loud-speaker comprises a stretched sheet of material 1 vibrated by a light cone 3 having its base secured to the flat diaphragm 1, the cone being vibrated by an amplitude reducing device connecting the apex of the cone with the prime mover. The amplitude reducing device consists of a lever 5 pivoted at 9 with a moving coil drive at 6, the cone 3 being connected to the lever 5 at a point between the pivot and the moving coil. The diaphragm 1 consists of a sheet of linen stretched tightly over the wooden frame 2 and may be tautened by the application of dope.
