Multiplying &c. apparatus; interlocking. - In a machine of the differentially set type for the four rules, the angularly adjustable setting elements are provided with racks co-operating , with holding pawls arranged between the teeth of a rocking comb movable to lock the pawls in operative position. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the setting elements have an arcuato rack portion 7 co-operating with pawls 9 to hold the elements in adjusted position. The pawls are positioned between the prongs of a rocking comb 11 pivotally mounted on a shaft 8. The rocking of the comb to maintain the pawls in locking position is effected by an arm 15 integral with the comb and co-operating with a cam 17 on the actuator shaft 3. During repeated rotations of the main crank 19 a boss 27 on a spring controlled rod 25 is positioned behind a projection 28 on the Arm 15 so as to hold the pawls in locking engagement. Movement of the rod 25 is effected when the spring controlled pin 22 on the hand grip is withdrawn from a recess in the boss 24 of a bracket 29.
