Supply meters. - In order to enable a meter to be employed on circuits of different frequencies, the current driving flux is varied in accordance with the frequency, as by varying the number of ampere-turns of the current coil in accordance with the frequency. As shown, the main current coil a is tapped at a<1>1, the tapping being brought to a terminal a1 for use on the circuit of lower frequency, for example 25 periods per second. On a circuit of the higher frequency, for example 50 periods per second, the complete coil is employed. An adjustable shunt resistance d is arranged in parallel with the branched winding of the main current soil. The voltage coil b is connected directly across the mains when employed with the lower frequency, and is connected in series with a non-inductive resistance c when used with the higher frequency so that the phase displacement is the same in both cases. A meter designed for more than two frequencies has more than one adjustable shunt resistance for connection in parallel with the current coil or a portion thereof.
