203,322. Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Ratz, E. G.). Sept. 2, 1922, [Convention date]. Polyphase meters.-A supply meter is adapted to measure the energy consumed on a polyphase circuit or on a single-phase circuit derived therefrom, or on both circuits simultaneously. In the arrangement shown, three-phase conductors 9, 10, 11 are supplied through a transformer 1 having primary windings 2, 3 and secondary windings 7, 8. A standard two-element energy meter 12 has the current coils 13, 14 connected in the conductors 9, 11 and the pressure coils 15, 16 connected across the mains 9, 10 and 10, 11. In order to enable the meter to register the energy suppied to a three -conductor system comprising the mains 10, 11 and an auxiliary conductor 117 connected to an intermediate point on the secondary winding 8, an auxiliary current coil 18 is provided in the meter 12 and connected in the conductor 17. The ratio of the number of turns in the coil 18 to the number in the coil 14 is the same as the ratio of the number of turns of the transformer winding between the conductors 10, 17 to that between the conductors 10, 11. The instrument may be adjusted by varying the number of turns in the coil 18 relatively to the coil 14 to correspond to different tap points of the conductor 17.
