Abstract
335,696. Beach, H. D. March 5, 1929, [Convention date]. Lenses.-A lens unit is constructed with lens components or lenses of different focal lengths so that a subject having parts at different distances will be sharply focused on the image plane. In one example, one surface of a lens 10 has several concentric portions 11, 12, 13 of different curvatures, so that sharp images of different planes will be projected on a common picture pLane. In another example, Fig. 3, the lens is made up of a series of discs 18, 19, 20 of different curvature, and in a further example, the surfaces are on concentric rings, Fig. 4. Further modifications involve the use of separate lenses, or a lens divided along diameters or along chords, so that it is in several sections.
