Pneumatic-tyre pressure gauges; piston-andspring pressure gauges; indicating-means for. - Relates to pressure gauges of the dial type for use with pneumatic tyres and comprises pressure-responsive means, a rack bar unconnected therewith but moved thereby, friction means for holding the rack bar and a pinion transmitting the movement of the bar to an indicating pointer. The parts are pressed in a block C mounted within a casing B through a hole in which a cylindrical projection c on the block C passes. A bore in the block C forms a cylinder for a piston D between which and a shoulder at the top of the cylinder is located a spring G. The rack bar E passes through the top of the cylinder and meshes with a pinion F while on the side of the rack opposite the pinion bears a roller N which together with the pinion is mounted on spindles located in a groove in the top of the block. The lower end of the block is threaded to take a cap l which secures a presser foot L. The roller E is mounted in an elongated hole and is pressed against the grooved back of the rack by a spring n<2> located in a bore C<5> of the block. The gauge pointer is frictionally mounted on the pen f. The lower end of the rack is formed as a screwed socket to receive a small screw e<1> between which and the end of the socket is a coiled spring. In use, the rack is pressed down until the screw e' engages an extension d' on the piston D. If the gauge does not read zero, the screw e<1> is adjusted. The rack is held in any position reached by the friction of the roller N. To return the rack, the push M is actuated and a spring P normally holding a lever o in the position shown, together with the lever o is moved into the position shown in dotted lines.
