Abstract

335,329. Craven, P. A. Aug. 7, 1929. Diaphragms. - A diaphragm of the kind comprising a conical or flared diaphragm 1 tensioned by spring means between its base and apex, is provided with a hoop 2 secured round the base of the diaphragm and spring ribs 8 constantly in stress between the hoop and a recessed body 3 fixed to the apex of the diaphragm. The diaphragm may be made of cambric coated with collodion for the purpose of stiffening. The ribs 8 may be of pianowire or bamboo and may be adjustable in length. The Provisional Specification states that the ribs 8 may be removed after the diaphragm is sufficiently stiffened and that a coating of varnish, powdered conch, murex or like shells may be applied.
