Abstract
334,249. Werschinin, G. P. May 31, 1929. Gill boxes; drawing-frames.-In drawing flax, jute- and like fibrous material the gill bars 6 are driven at a substantially uniform speed which is substantially greater than the peripheral velocity of the feed rolls 1, and less than that of the drawing rolls 3, 4 so that the strand 2 is drawn firstly between the gill pins 5 and the feed rolls 1 and secondly between the drawing rolls 3, 4 and the pins 5. The gill bars may be driven at the normal speed and the speed of the feed rolls suitably reduced, or the speed of the feed rolls may be maintained at the normal rate and the speed of the gill pins increased.
