Abstract
334,098. Ungerer, K. March 4, 1929, [Convention date]. Reflectors within bulbs.-In vehicle &c. lamps with electromagnetically controlled reflectors to control the direction of projection of light, the reflector is movably mounted within the lamp bulb and the controlling electromagnets are outside the bulb. The reflector g, Fig. 2, may be above or below the filament d and carries magnetic material h protected by heat-insulating material. The reflector is mounted on an arm f secured to a yoke e across the leading-in wires c<1>, c<2>. In a modification, the yoke is secured to the top of a central rod carrying the filament supports. In another modification, Fig. 5, the reflector g is held by a spring o in a bend in the central rod n. The two head-lamps of a vehicle each have two electromagnets attached to, and having pole-pieces projecting through, the fixed reflectors of the lamps, and the energization of the electromagnets is controlled by a rheostat with a contact arm fixed to the steering pillar of the vehicle to swing the movable reflectors inside the bulbs to one side or the other. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also mounting the reflector laterally of the filament. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
