Abstract

675,634. Anti-dazzle headlights. BAUMANN, C. Sept. 13, 1950, No. 22552/50. Class 75(iv) In an anti-dazzle device for headlights, elongated pivoted flaps 4, forming a louvre have pins 10 projecting from their centres to engage freely in holes in a control rod 5 movable in an endwise direction. The control rod is mounted in bearings 8, 9 in the headlight reflector 1 and is moved upwardly against the action of a return spring 14 by Bowden cable mechanism or, as shown, by an electromagnet 6, the upper end of the rod being made of soft iron to serve as an armature and having a soft iron stop 13 adjustably secured thereto beneath the magnet and a stop 21 of non- magnetic material secured above the magnet. The electromagnet may be energized with the anti-dazzle filament of the lamp. The flaps which may be made reflecting on their inner surfaces are pivoted at their ends in holes 17 in a cylindrical portion 7 of the reflector or in a separate ring held against the reflector by the front glass bezel. The pivoted flaps may be provided at the upper part only of the headlight. A fixed shutter 15 may be mounted at the upper and at the lower part of the headlight.
