Abstract

Applied by backward pressure of tractor or relaxation of pull.-Towing and brake operating connections between a tractor and a trailer vehicle, whereby the trailer brakes are automatically applied when the tractor is retarded comprise a link 3 pivoted at 2 on a tractor member 1 and slidable in a yoke 7 on the trailer. The link is connected to a brake member 14. The towing stress is transmitted by the engagement of surfaces 13, 16 on the link and yoke. The rearward movement of the link during braking of the trailer is limited, as shown, by the engagement of the end of a slot in the link with a bolt 11 which is adjustably secured in a slot in the yoke by serrated plates 9 to permit of adjustment of the braking operation. A stand 15 to support the yoke 7 when the trailer is disconnected from the tractor is hinged to the link 3.
