Abstract

269,427. Hawkins, G. L., and Walker, F. H.S. Nov. 12, 1926. Actuated by relaxation of pull.-In brakes for trailer vehicles, such as caravans, in which compression springs surrounding the draught bar cushion the tractive pull and the braking effort applied when the pull is relaxed, the compression springs h, i are arranged in the space between the guide bearings b, c for the draught bar a and are confined between the bearings and shoulders f on the bar. The bearings b, c are carried in a frame d secured bv screws e or otherwise to the trailer. The end j of the bar a is attached to the tractor and the end k to one end of a two-armed lever l pivoted to a bracket n on the trailer and having its other end connected to the brake mechanism. Alternatively, a cable passing over a pulley device and connected to the brake mechanism has one end secured to the end k of the bar.
