Abstract

333,430. Eifert, O. Sept. 25, 1929. Spindle apparatus; spindle rails. -The upper bearings of mule spindles are supported between the bottom of a lubricating trough and the cover, and are adjustable relatively to the cover and secured thereby after they have adjusted themselves to the spindles, a wick extending along the trough serving to lubricate the spindles through tangential slots in the bearings. The lower end of each bearing g is supported in a boss f mounted in the bottom of the trough a, and a spherical surface l on the upper end abuts against a correspondng concave seating in the cover n, so that the bearing is capable of slight oscillatory movement about the supporting boss f, but is prevented from rotating by means of a flange k having a flat portion on its periphery which bears against the wall of the trough. The bearings are allowed to align themselves with their spindles after which they are clamped by tightening the screws o. A lubricating wick r extends the length of the trough and contacts with the spindles through tangential slots in each bearing, and is provided with depending tufts of yarn at intervals to draw up lubricant from the bottom of the trough. The front s of the trough is mounted on hinges v provided with a spring catch v<1> so that access can be had to the lubricating band for oiling purposes.
