Abstract

332,130. Seyd, F. O. Sept. 18, 1929. Stropping - apparatus. - Razor blades are stropped on two edges simultaneously by an endless belt 19 running over a driving roller 18 rotatable by a handle, and rollers 15 - - 17 mounted in a frame 10, the blade or blades 25 being held in the space 24 between the runs of the belt by a holder 26, which is pushed into position through an opening 27 in the frame, and may be held in position by knobs 31 on the holder, one of which engages a hole or notch in a member 30 on the frame. The blades are held in the holder by a pin 28 which passes through holes in transverse members 27a of the holder and through the usual holes 29 of the blades. The roller 18 may be adjustable to maintain the tension of the belt and the rollers 15 - - 17 may be kept in position by springs. The belt is moved sideways to and fro during stropping by making the roller with an irregular periphery, or by mounting a cylindrical drum to rotate on an axis inclined slightly to the axis of the drum. In a modification, the blade-holder may be slidable in a pair of channels; the holder may be retained in position by a spring clip or by grooves &c. in the parts 27a co-operating with pins &c. on the frame.
