Abstract

332,007. Reid Power Development Co., Ltd., and Hinchley, J. W. May 30. 1929. Producers.-To obtain a producer gaa containing a high proportion of carbon monoxide, the gases from a lime kiln a are passed by a pipe f through a producer b, the amount of gas or air or both admitted to the kiln and the amount of air admitted to the producer being controlled according to the temperature in the kiln or in the producer. Air from a pipe c and producer gas from a pipe e are supplied to the burner d, a portion of the air being diverted through pipe h into pipe f. The producer gas passes into a box i in which the air is preheated and from which a fan l supplies it to the kiln and take off pipe n. A valve m in pipe e is controlled by a pyrometer o in the producer, a similar device in this kiln controlling a valve n in the air pipe c. The heat exchange box i may be used as a drying floor for the limestone s.
