Lids; corner strengthening pieces; straps, strengthening.-The lid or bottom a of a packing case for tin plates &c. is strengthened by strips b of uniform width each arranged across a corner with its ends bent around adjacent edges of the lid &c. to lie on the underside thereof so that when the lid &c. is fixed to the frame d of the case, the strips form ties between adjacent upright sides thereof. The lid &c. is made of one piece of cardboard, millboard, &c. and the strips b are preferably secured thereto by punchings. One or more transverse reinforcing strips c may be arranged on the exterior of the case with the ends thereof folded over the edges of the lid or bottom. The edges of the strips ma.y be folded on themselves to increase the rigidity and improve the appearance of the strips. Specification 192,946 is referred to.
