Abstract

330,030. Douglas Motors, Ltd., and Douglas, J. March 19, 1929. Spray carburettors, - A strangler valve 17 located in the air intake of an automatic carburettor, is kept closed at starting and is adapted to be opened by the engine governor so as to remove the strangling effect as the engine speed increases. The valve is located at the mouth 16 of an elbow piece 15 inserted in the air inlet 14. It is urged towards its closed position by a spring 21, and is opened by an arm 11 of a lever the other arm 8 of which is connected through linkage 9 to the governor. A part 10 of the arm 11 may actuate the carburettor throttle 2 after it has moved the valve 17, the heads 12, 20 being adjustable to permit of this. The air inlet for starting and slow running is not shown. In a modification, the valve 17 does not wholly close the inlet 16, thereby providing an air inlet for starting.
