Driving-arrangernents; spindle driving apparatus. - In spinning frames, particularly gill spinning-frames, the flyer spindles are driven in groups by a continuous cord from vertical drums d actuated directly by co-axial electric motors k, Fig. 3, or the drums of several groups are driven through gearing and a horizontal shaft h, and belt from an electric motor g, Fig. 2. Sixteen flyers are arranged in each group and the drum and driving-belt are arranged in a casing f with a transparent front. The driving-motor k is provided with a double cage short-circuited rotor with a centrifugal clutch so as to facilitate slow starting. The drawing-roller shaft p is driven from the shaft of the drum d through worm gearing and change gears. The driving-belt is tensioned by an obliquely arranged pulley e.
