Abstract

327,927. Wade, J. T. - July 23, 1929. Pumping - machines and fan apparatus.-In apparatus for raising liquids, a tube 8 is connected to the delivery pipe of a turbine or pump, and an inner tube or rising main 7 is connected to the suction side 6 of the turbine or pump, or to a reservoir. A part of the water &c. from the delivery main passes down the tuba 8 and is delivered to the main 7 through an injector cone 24 therein, drawing with it the liquid to be raised through passages 19 and a strainer 13. The casing 12 is provided with two sets of passages 19, 20. The passages 19 communicate through slots with the central bore, and the passages 20 communicate through apertures 22 with the interior of the cone 24. The main 7 may deliver to a reservoir, half the liquid returning to the pump. Where the reservoir is at an exceptional height, the pump may be multistage, the first stage delivering the liquid for the injector action, and the final stages pumping the liquid to the reservoir. When the well &c. is deep, the first stage delivers water to the reservoir, while the higher-pressure stages are connected to the injectors.
