Abstract

326,669. Maschinenfabrik Sack Ges., (Assignees of Asbeck, G.). Nov. 2, 1928, [Convention date]. Addition to 263,683. Rolling.-A rolling-mill as described in Specification 263,683<*> is provided with a universal joint between each pinion spindle and the corresponding roll spindle in order to permit axial and lateral adjustment of the rolls to compensate for wear &c. Each roll-spindle x is journaled in a casing 3 which is axially adjustable in a threaded bush 9 mounted in the mill frame and is secured in the adjusted position by a lock-nut 10. The bearings 1, 2 for the roll spindles are eccentrically mounted in the casing 3, an axially adjustable rack 4 or worm mechanism being provided to effect rotation of the casing. Each casing 3 is in halves ,and is secured by a U-bolt 8 to the cover 7 so that the casing, cover and roll may be removed as a unit. The driving pinions f are hollow to receive a splined member 15, axially adjustable by a handwheel 20 and connected by dovetailed spring lugs 19 to a member 17 which has other. transversely arranged, parallel sided spring lugs 18 engaging corresponding recesses in the head 16 of the roll spindle.
