Abstract

325,763. British Enka Artificial Silk Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Naamlooze Vennootschap Nederlandsche Kunstzijdefabriek). April 9, 1929, [Convention date]. Cellulose xanthates, processes for making artificial filaments from.-The concentration of magnesium sulphate spinning baths for viscose is maintained by the addition of magnesium carbonate and sulphuric acid. When carrying out the process, a portion of the spinning bath liquid is diverted through a branch pipe, into a vessel in which the magnesium carbonate and sulphuric acid are added; the solution is then returned to the main spinning bath for re-use. 'The heat of formation of the magnesium sulphate is utilized for maintaining the correct temperature of the bath.
