Abstract
335,605. Zellstofffabrik Waldhof, and Bernstein, A. June 27, 1929. Cellulose xanthates, processes for making fiaments from.-In the production of threads from viscose by a non-continuous process of the type wherein the thread after coagulation and fixing is collected on spools, acid is removed by passing the threads immediately after coagulation through a hot water bath, the, threads being then spooled. In an example, the filament bundle passing out of the acid precipitating liquid is immediately drawn through a hot, flowing water bath at about 70‹ C. extending for about 50 centimetres and immediately following is wound on a spool. The spool may also rotate in a hot water bath. The hot water treatment is stated to effect sthenosizing of the product which may be increased by the addition of substances such as formalin. The threads may be extended during their passage through the bath. A suitable acid coagulating bath comprises water 70 per cent, sodium sulphate 13 per cent, sulphuric acid 10 per cent, and glucose 7 per cent. Specification 315,405 is disclaimed.
