Abstract

325,568. Premix Gas Plants, Ltd., and Docking. A. Nov. 20, 1928. Gas fires; radiants. - A burner comprises alternately plain and corrugated annular discs or strips, superimposed, located side by side or wound together into the form of a coil for dividing the gaseous mixture into a large number of small streams as it issues from the burner and high heat-resisting metal is disposed at or contiguous to the outer surface of the discs or strips for the purpose of being heated to incandescence. In one form of portable heater provided with a reflector 11, Fig. 1, the annular discs 4 are threaded on rods 6, having knife edges, between a mixing-chamber 7 and a porcelain cap 8, a coil 10 of nickel wire being disposed around the discs. Alternatively, a nickel gauze cone or cylinder may surround the heating element. In a second form, parallel coils 20, Fig. 6, of nickel iron are placed above the strips 18 arranged side by side in the top of a rectangular casing 14, the burner being mounted within a casing provided with a metal canopy or reflector
