Movable-abutment type; mounting rotors on shafts.-A supercharger of the Roots'-blower type for internal-combustion engines has hollow lobed rotors formed with transverse inwardly extending ribs and integral with the shaft or a central portion to fit thereon. The lobes are machined out hollow from the solid to leave a number of circular ribs 7, or a helical rib 8 extending from one end of the rotor to the other, as shown respectively in the sectional views, Figs. 1 and 3. The lobes are approximately circular in section of a diameter equal to about half the radius of the complete rotor and are extended slightly at the tip. The rotors may be splined on their shafts.
