Abstract

324,998. Rile, F. C. Nov. 9, 1928. Studs.-A button, stud, or like fastening comprises a base 2, carrying a member 8 adapted to lie in a buttonhole to prevent the base from turning, and two elongated parts A, B, adapted to pass through the buttonhole, one of the parts, B, being movable relatively to the other part A and to the base 2 so as to lie across the buttonhole on both sides, disengagement of the parts- A, B being effected, for removal of the button &c. from the buttonhole, by movement of the part B towards the base 2 against the pressure of a spring 6 in a housing 5 and which presses against the lower end of a shank 4 which carries the part B at its upper end. The parts A, B have interengaging shouldered recesses for holding them in locked engagement when the recesses are brought into registration with the parts at right angles to one another. In a modified form, one of the elongated parts A, B, is made integral with the member which lies in the buttonhole and is movable towards the base, over a shank portion which carries the other of the parts A, B, against a blade spring, to release the parts A, B from engagement.
