Abstract

324,723. Midgley, A. H. Nov. 3, 1928. Motor-vehicle head lamps.-A head lamp comprises a-parabolic reflector a with a source of illumination b situated approximately at the point of intersection of a line A joining the focus B with the extreme upper front edge C of the reflector and a line D projected horizontally from the point where a line E joining the focus with the extreme lower edge of the reflector would meet the reflector when produced. Obscuring means c may be associated with the source of illumination to prevent any direct rays emanating from the lamp. The screen c is of hemispherical form with its diametral plane containing the line A and may be provided by blackening the outer portion of the bulb. The inner portion of the bulb may be coloured, or separate obscuring and coloured screens may be used. A second bulb d may be fitted for use instead of or in addition to the bulb b.
